The 2nd International Conference Brawijaya Dentistry 2020 (ICBD 2020) is an annual international academic conference organized by Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Brawijaya dedicated for providing an interdisciplinary platform to exchange ideas, sharing new insight and most advanced breakthrough in the scope of higher education, scientific research and community outreach. With the background of current technological developments and the need to adapt to new norms, the theme this time is “Global trends in higher education, research, and community outreach: the future is now!”
ICBD 2020 has three main events. There are Virtual Conference, Oral Presentation, and Student Competition. The Virtual Conference presented national and international professional speakers for undergraduate and postgraduate dental students, all dentists, and academicians. The Virtual Conference was held on November 28th – 29th, 2020 and December 5th – 6th, 2020.
The 2nd series of Virtual Conference was held on Sunday, November 29th, 2020. The event was opened by MC Donny Ramadhan, S.KG then continued with singing national anthem “Indonesia Raya” and “Ksatria Brawijaya” by the Dentistry Brawijaya Choir (Denticho) team. The first welcome speech were given by the chief executive of ICBD 2020 Dr. Yuanita Lely Rachmawati, DDS, MPH., then followed by a second speech by the dean of FKG UB, Dr. Nur Permatasari, DDS, MMSc.
The second series of Virtual Conference presents three international speakers:
1). Prof. Christopher Scarlett, Ph.D from School of Environmental and Life Sciences, University of Newcastle (Australia) with the presentation title, “The Quest for Novel Therapeutic Agents for Pancreatic Cancer: Tales from The Land, Sea, and Beyond”
2). Doan Van Minh, MD, Ph.D from Faculty of Traditional Medicine, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Vietnam) with the presentation title, “Herbal Medicine: An Opportunity Against COVID-19”
3). Ho Hoang Nhan, Ph.D., Pharm from Faculty of Pharmacy, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Vietnam) fwith the presentation title, “Enhancing The Anticancer Activity of Antimalarial Artesunate by Nanotechnology-based Drug Delivery System”
The conferences were moderated by Ega Lucida Chandra Kumala, DDS, Sp.Perio.
The next event is Oral Presentation (Short Lecture). There were five Breakout Rooms, each Breakout Room there were four presenters, one moderator, and several participants. The presenteres presented their work such in the form of Case Reports, Research Articles, Review Articles, and so on. The event starts at 12.15 PM and ends at 13.15 PM.
